Lost or broken Hisense VIDAA remote — what you can do
This page is for Hisense TVs with VIDAA, the ones whose remote has a VIDAA button (roughly 2019–2023 software). The TV confirms a new phone with a code on the screen, so in most cases you don't need the remote. Hisense VIDAA support in NoStrings is in beta. One honest note: some newer (2024 and later) VIDAA software only lets Hisense's own app connect. If yours is one of them, the app will tell you.

Connect without the remote
- Make sure the TV is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi router as your iPhone (not a guest network). Turn VPN off on the iPhone.
- Install NoStrings, open it and allow Local Network access when the iPhone asks.
- Tap your Hisense TV in the list.
- The TV shows a 4-digit code. Type it in the app. Done.
If the TV asks to confirm
The code is the confirmation, so there's nothing to press on the TV. If the app says the TV only lets the maker's own app connect, tap “Send report”. It tells us which model to work on next.
Turn the TV on
If your TV supports it, NoStrings can switch it on over Wi-Fi. Turn this on once: Settings → Network → Wake on LAN (on some models “Wake on Wireless Network”). The app also shows whether the TV is on.
From the iPhone you get the remote keys, the TV's apps and the source / input list.
Keep in mind: you do this only once. After the first connection the TV remembers your iPhone, and the app connects by itself every time you open it. No remote needed again.
Questions
How do I know my Hisense is VIDAA?
The original remote has a VIDAA button, and the home screen says VIDAA. If the TV has Google Play or says “Google TV”, use the Google TV guide.
The app says it can't control my TV.
Some newer VIDAA software only accepts Hisense's own app. Tap “Send report” in NoStrings so we know the model; we're working on it.
Can I switch to HDMI without the remote?
Yes. The app has the TV's source / input list.
