Privacy Policy
The short version: NoStrings collects no data. There are no servers, no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The app talks only to your TV, on your home Wi-Fi network.
This policy describes how the iOS app "NoStrings: TV Remote Control" (the "App") and this website handle information. The App is developed by Vitalii Iesmanskyi, an individual developer ("we", "us").
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, store, sell or share any personal data or usage data. We do not operate any servers for the App, and the App has no user accounts. The App contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs and no tracking of any kind.
Accordingly, the App's privacy label on the App Store is "Data Not Collected".
How the App works
- Local network only. The App communicates directly with your TV over your home Wi-Fi network. Nothing passes through our servers, because there are none.
- Local Network permission. iOS asks you to allow Local Network access. The App uses it only to find your TV on the network and to send it remote-control commands.
- Pairing tokens. When you pair with a TV, the TV issues a pairing token so it doesn't ask for approval every time. This token is stored in the iOS Keychain on your iPhone and is sent only to your TV.
- TV list and settings. Details such as your TV's name, network address and your App preferences are stored only on your device.
Connection log and "Send report to developer"
To help troubleshoot connection problems, the App keeps a connection log stored locally on your device. It is never sent anywhere automatically.
If you choose to use "Send report to developer", the App opens a pre-filled email to support@nostringsremote.com with the connection log attached as a file (or, if Apple Mail isn't set up, your default email app opens with the log in the message body). You can review the message and decide whether to send it. If you send it, we receive the email and its contents (including the log and your email address) and use them only to respond to your request. We do not use it for marketing and do not share it with anyone.
Purchases
The one-time in-app purchase (Pro Lifetime, $6.99) is processed entirely by Apple, including Family Sharing. We do not receive your name, payment card details or any other payment information. Apple's handling of this data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
This website
nostringsremote.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and protect the site, as any web host does. We do not use this data to identify or track visitors.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. In any case, the App collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you emailed us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time. You can remove all App data from your iPhone by deleting the App.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above. If the App ever starts collecting data, we will say so clearly here before it happens.
